I was hired to design and produce "a card with an onion on it" as a love letter for my client to give his girlfriend on their anniversary. I created this recursive card – from one single sheet of paper – to mimic the action of peeling layers of an onion. A custom folded vellum envelope presented the card and kicked off the experience, mimicking the outermost layers of onion peel. The recipient sent me this note: Turns out both onions AND onion cards make me cry.
